Highlights and Lowlights
New highlights and lowlights will be added periodically in bold print.
Lowlights
- being in a minor accident (scratched the paint) in a rental car
- being chased by a bull moose while hiking
- finding out there is no recycling in Utah County (except newspapers)
- finding out I must pay $10 a month for garbage pick up (when I'd rather recycle most of my garbage!)
- moving a futon into my apartment by myself in the rain and dropping the mattress in a puddle
- shopping for a used car and missing my Metro
- trying to get a library card (I basically had to sign away my first born child)
- having a temporary crown fall off my front tooth while eating pizza in the laundromat
- losing my keys and having to break into my apartment
Highlights
- living with Kara, Bob, Cody and Alex for two weeks - what a great family!
- hearing Cody yell, "Myrna's home!" when I pulled up to the house and having him greet me with "What took you so long?" when I came into the house
- realizing that I had bought the rental car insurance, so the scratch on the rental car was covered
- being chased by a bull moose while hiking (it was kinda exciting!)
- finding Springville Community Presbyterian Church
- finding the Good Earth grocery store in Provo
- finding the Bombay House (Indian food in Provo)
- having a neighbor stop by and introduce herself, then come back later with her family and some pastries for me (yum!)
- having a couple from church lend me a bed, table and chairs
- realizing my little Geo Metro is "da bomb"
- becoming a library card carrying member of the Springville community
- meeting Drs. Brent and Kent Hansen (dentists) who like me and treat me well because my sister is a dentist
- finding my keys in the leaves along the side of the street outside my house
- finding a coffee shop that sells hot white chocolate (in Spanish Fork)
- buying a guitar for $20
- Arches National Park
- the drive to Arches
- Moab
- the view from my apartment
- having a neighbor offer me a love seat (they got a new one)
- working at a job with fun, interesting people
- working at a job in which I get to spend much of my time outside in a beautiful setting
- working at job that I can feel good about (helping to clean up the planet)
- meeting tons of new, nice, interesting people
