Wild, Wild West Revisited

Winter has been much leaner as far as animal-sitings go, but there have been a few impressive ones along with the more mundane.

As of April 6:
  • Lizzards
  • Pheasant
  • Some sort of weasel - my instinct is to call it an ermine, but I think they may live further north than here. A quick websearch suggested it might also be a stoat or simply a long-tailed weasel. Not quite sure, but it did have a white coat and a black tip on its tail (and was very, very cute!)
  • Elk - lots of them on the mountain. None close enough to photograph, but easily visible with the human eye.
  • Chickadees
  • Magpies
  • Mule Deer
  • Rabbits
  • Dogs - two running around on the face of the mountain for several days (wild?) and one that wondered onto the site (and into my heart - ahhh!)
  • Red-tailed Hawks
  • Geese
  • Tracks in the snow that looked like a fairly large cat (mountian lion???? bobcat????)
  • Buffalo (ok, this is a bit of a stretch - they were on a ranch)
